Architecture

These positions recognize a fundamental difference between the operational and system sides of the architecture problem. This involves a somewhat more difficult position, which requires an individual who can traverse either side of the problem.

Operational Architecture

An individuals who has an understanding of the warfighting processes, in terms of test and evaluation, training, exercise, etc. This person has strengths in the operational role. The difference between test and evaluation and training and exercise is that one involves hardware and the other involves personnel.

System Architecture

These are individuals grown through the systems and development role. They tend to see the complexity of the systems. This role understands the sources of information, the application of this information and the development of new information in the absence of clear indications.

System Engineering

These individuals clearly have legacy links to the system engineering processes and understand requirements, management plans, risk, risk mitigation and risk tradeoff. This position understands the allocation of requirements, the derivation processes and the decomposition tradeoffs in developing the system topology.

Knowledge Discovery

This is a proprietary development area using the integrations of commercial off-the-shelf tools. This area of expertise will provide challenging new assignments on the edge of technology where meaning-based computing involves the structuring, capture, indexing and archiving of knowledge across all media types.
